Karen Marie Schmitt, 56, of Los Fresnos, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 18, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Hittle and William Eugene Abshire. She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Anthony Schmitt Sr.; her children: Bruce Anthony (Adriana) Schmitt Jr. and Brandon Thomas Schmitt. She is also survived by her sister, Rebecca (Phil) Sargent and her brother, Billy Abshire, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family present at 6:00 p.m. to greet family and friends at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Thomae Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito. Serving as pallbearers are: Wayne Schmitt, Brenner Schmitt, Bruce Schmitt Jr., Jackie Poff, Gavin Wolff, Roland Kilgore, Jim Kilgore. Honarary pallbearers are: Robert Walsdorf and David Young. In lieu of flowers, the Schmitt family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Grace Point Fellowship Church in Harlingen, or the Ethel Whipple Memorial Library in Los Fresnos.
