During my high school years, Ray's Hickory Pit was my home away from home. I remember when I was finally able to drive, my friends and I would speed through town to eat at there. I will never forget that place nor will I ever forget Ray. He was a great man. Long after I graduated, he remembered me and would ask my parents how I was doing. Just about every visit I would make it a point to stop by there and he even got to meet my own children. My condolences go out to his family at this very difficult time. I know it's hard to loose someone you love but have comfort that his love will live on through all of us.

We all know how special Ray was and how so many people in our community looked to him for advice, he will be missed. Lili and little Ray, you will hear stories about your Dad for many years to come and this will bring comfort when you need it most. It's hard to accept but he is in a much better place. To Bea and to Ray's brothers and sisters; God bless you all and it was great seeing you. You know how they say that some people have a way with words, well Ray certainly did! I remember very well when I started out teaching school how hospitable the Ramirez family was to a floundering teacher who had enough money for only two beers once a month. It was a place where I could play pool and blow off steam. Mickey, please accept my condolences on the early demise of your brother. Del

I remember going home my Freshman and Sophomore years of college and one of the first things I would do would be to go visit Ray. I'd only get down if I saw the car was there. He'd greet me with a big ol' hug and would give me a plate to eat. =) He has always been a huge support for my family and everything that my sister and I did with cheerleading. Growing up with Little Ray I was able to see what a great dad he is, and he always had nothing but love for all of Little Ray's friends. My condolences go out to all of the family, I know he will truely be missed. I wish I could be there with all of my heart and I know that he is looking down on us right now. All my love, Laura

To the Ramirez family ... Rey was such a generous man. For years he donated trays of barbeque so we could sell sandwiches at the Relay For Life. All we had to do was call and he would ask "how many pounds" do you need?" Because of his generosity we were able to raise money to help those with cancer. Our prayers are with you.

I was without a father figure for the first 12 years of my life. I grew up in a home of 3 boys and our mother. I dreamed of a man to be my dad. A man big and strong… A man I could color father A man I could color Love. In my wife's house there was such a man. Who worked all day and came home at night Beat and tired. Never had much to say But worked and never let her or her lil' brother and Mother Be without the necessities in life. He didn't have a college education, but nonetheless Was a successful business man for many years. I loved this man. The man who said little But would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He showed strength and dignity until his last breath. My mother in law loved him, I could tell And when he would hold his granddaughter and look In her eyes I would melt and love him also. I will never forget his big wide grin That is why this man we knew as Ray Will always be the man I color Love.
