This past Thanksgiving was probably the best thanksgiving we have all had as a family. Uncle Everett always waited to the late hours of the night for our arrival. So he could greet us and give us all a warm welcome. I’ll never forget the constant laughter and joy that he would share with all of us. My most recent memory that I’ll cherish is how excited he would get watching his show Yellow Stone, I mean back to back. At some point I was tired of the show but we were all together and that is all that matters to me now.
I’ll end with this..
One of the last conversations Uncle Everett and I had was how I struggled with different kinds of people at work. This is what he has to say to me.
“Son, When someone is angry or upset, you have to remember that people have their own lives and their own problems that they’re dealing with outside of work. So try to make their day better by talking to them. Hear them out because they will appreciate being heard and feeling cared for.”
I’ll carry that with me for as long as I live and I’ll pass that on to everyone I meet in my life. Uncle Everett will live on forever through the kindness we share with others.
