Obituary of Russell Stephen Spinks
Please share a memory of Russell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Russell Stephen Spinks, 53 of Port Isabel, Texas passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020, at his residence in Port Isabel.
Born in 1967 as the youngest of five siblings, Russell put his mark on the town of Port Isabel from the very start. From playful outings that always seemed to get him in trouble as a kid to being a beloved student of Port Isabel High School, laughter and joy seemed to follow his every step. With his jokes and charisma, Russell won both the position of Student Council President and the hearts of everyone.
Leaving high school Russell entered one of his proudest stages in life, as an Anti-Tank Assault man in the Marine Corps. A moment in life he never forgot, yet his favorite part would soon come when he married Elizabeth Barojas and had his three children. All three of his kids were at the forefront of his mind when he went to work overseas as a Safety man. Nothing made him happier than his family, his service, and the ability to help anyone who needed it from close family to friends from high school.
Jokes may have been what brought people to him, but his personality was what kept people close. God must have really wanted to meet him after watching for so many years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert E. “Jack” Spinks Sr.; brother, Clifford Cecil Spinks; two stepfathers, Leroy Lacombe and Joe Touchet; and three nephews, Harley Raymond Spinks, Michael Spinks, and Clifford John “CJ” Spinks.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth B. Spinks; two sons, Russell S. Spinks II and Jose E. Spinks; one daughter, Karin A. Spinks; mother, Alice Joyce Touchet; two brothers, Randy (Candy) Spinks and Robert Spinks; and sister, Kris (Johnny) Greenwade.
