Russell was a great friend who made us all cry with laughter and joy. He was a phenomenal friend to my wife Kim Garcia (he called her Little Sister) and I when we lived in Argentina. He was so kind to take us things from the USA and never did ask for anything in return. He was an amazing chef (in particular, really good at Latin cuisine) and at times I would forget he wasn't Mexican lol. Boy, he sure cooked well and loved to make jokes about his hand. I can't say enough good things about Russell but I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a treasured friend. I was looking at my phone and the last time he tried to call me I missed his call which makes me sad that I wasn't able to hear about his most recent trip to Argentina. He loved to send pictures of his cooking abilities and not to mention the last trip he took with his wife to Argentina in September 2019 (one picture has his wife and him sitting on a log surrounded by snow with the caption "wish you guys were here"). I can tell you we wish you were here with us Russell! We will forever miss you mi amigo, so until we meet again.

I met Russell in Argentina and shortly after meeting it was as like we had known each other for decades.
I saw him last a couple of months ago as I left Argentina and spoke with him a week ago to catch up.
He was friend and a great professional.

He was more than just family to me, he was one of the greatest friends I could ever have. He would always lighten the mood of things , he was the funniest man I knew, there wasn't a day where he wouldn't make someone's day better. He would always go out of his way to help others & do nice things for everyone. He always thought of others before himself... he was one of a kind. I had nothing but utmost gratitude & sympathy for him, we were all truly blessed to have had him in our lives. He will forever be in our prayers.

This news is hard to comprehend. We were all just in high school it seems. Living the life, wondering what our future would bring. We all eventually went our separate ways and started our new beginning. We either went to college, military, got married and/or had children. Whatever route we took it was ours.
Russell was a great guy in school and I’m sure he continued that in his life after. I know he loved his wife and was so PROUD of his children.
