Obituary of Phil Senterfitt

Phil Senterfitt, educator and long-time Valley resident, passed away on July 23, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was 77 years old.

He was born on September 7, 1940 in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA to John Reaves Senterfitt, Jr. and Mary Frances Radenbach Senterfitt. He joined big brother Gene Senterfitt and welcomed baby sister Lynn Senterfitt a few years later.

After marrying his high school sweetheart, Myrta Kay Liles, they had daughters Cindy Kay Senterfitt and Kerry Lynn Senterfitt (Champion), raising them in the Los Fresnos and San Benito areas.

He is survived by 7 grandchildren: Matt, Cody, Kelley, Sam, Tyler, Miles and Julia...and 8 great-grandchildren: Peyton, Andrea, Joshua, Ariel, Arianna, Mia, Luis, and Leighton

Phil was preceded in death by Myrta Kay, his wife of 50 years, and both his parents.

Phil was well-known for his many years working with the Valley’s young students as teacher, mentor, UIL and drama coach. He will be missed in the educational community.

Services were held at Thomae-Garza on August 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Dillon Vanderford of the First Presbyterian Church, San Benito, Texas.
