It is so sad to hear this terrible loss. She went through so much medically but was always welcoming. I appreciated her honest, direct and foward way of being. If someone wanted the hard truth, she was there to provide guidance. My deepest condolences to all the family going through this difficult chapter in life. After recently losing a loved one, rest assured this consuming pain eases with time. She will always be missed and hold a special place in our hearts after impacting so many of us in the community. May the faith in God help the healing process and confort all during these difficult times knowing that one day we will have the opportunity to see her again. To the Torres & Holland Family,
There is no doubt that dinner was often late in the Torres household as Coach Torres was out helping her athletes with their afternoon (and morning) workouts. Coach Torres was out picking up runners at 5:30am most mornings and delivering those same students in the evening after 6:00pm. As if that weren't enough she then gave up her Saturdays and Sundays with cross country and track meets. Often those meets required out of town trips and again she selflessly gave of her time. Thank you for sharing Sylvia, you will never know the difference she made to so many students. She will be remembered through her legacy of many successful Tarpon athletes.

Our deepest condolences to you and your family. Sylvia was apart of many lives and touched many lives as well. How to live without people we love is one of the hardest things the Lord puts us through. The fight that she fought to extend her life is something to be said about her WILL and the example of how we should live selflessly. As much as we will hurt because she is not here physically, her loving spirit will always be around. May she finally rest alongside the angels and the Lord.

I write this with a heavy heart yet I also rejoice in the comfort that Sylvia is not suffering anymore.
My fondest memories of Sylvia is being part of the 4x100 relay team with her. She was always a bit reserved but once you broke through you could appreciate her humor and kindness. I will always cherish those memories.

Sylvia, I remember the day that Michael came home from school and said to me, my spanish teacher is my aunt. Michael, said Mrs. Torres said to me I am your aunt. Michael loved you since that first day of school. He would always talked about what a great funny teacher you were. I like to thank you for every time that we would see each other at Walmart or H E B you would always say nice things to me about my son Michael or little Tony (how you would called him).
