Julian Villarreal, Sr., 85, of Harlingen, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Retama Manor in Weslaco, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Clara T. Villarreal; and four brothers: Liandro, Jose, Pablo, and Carlos Villarreal. He is survived by his loving wife, Guadalupe Rodriguez Villarreal; his children: Hortencia (Daniel) Padilla, Julian Villarreal Jr., Ester Fuentes, Ernesto (Olga) Villarreal, Alicia Rose, and Ramiro Villarreal; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Leonor Cortez, Petra Maldonado, and Aurora Aguilera; two brothers, Eliseo Villarreal and Ernesto Villarreal. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harlingen, TX. Committal service will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX with full military honors.
