Yolanda De La Rosa, 64, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 18, 2015. Yolanda was born in Brownsville, Texas on November 6, 1950 to the late Mateo and Alberta Silva. She was a lifelong resident of Los Fresnos, Texas. Yolanda was a religious education worker for 25 years and spent 6 years as Director of Religious Education at St. Cecilia Church. She had been employed at First National Bank in Brownsville, Texas and at Lopez-Riggins Elementary School in Los Fresnos, Texas. Yolanda's greatest desire was putting God first in everything. She exhibited strong faith in Jesus Christ and used the gifts that God blessed her with which included ministering to the sick. Yolanda was a person of great integrity and she was very disciplined in herself, her family, and in her vocation. In addition, Yolanda was a true servant of Jesus; she sacrificed much to family, friends, and people in need. She indeed loved much. Yolanda is survived by her two children, Iris (Kyle) and Joel; one grandson, Andrew; and her three brothers: Mateo Jr., Gilbert, and Arturo; along with two sisters, Rosie Garza and Patricia Vidaurri. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
