Port Isabel - George Frazier Haylock, 64, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas. George was born in Guanaja, a Caribbean Bay Island of Honduras. He was affectionately known as Papa G by his friends and family and moved to Port Isabel, Texas where he operated gulf shrimp boats and raised a family. George served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his father George Frazier Haylock Sr., his sisters Donna Jean Haylock-Johnson and Odette Lilac Haylock. George is survived by his living wife of 40 years, Ilona Teresa Haylock and his children, Tyrone Haylock of New Orleans, LA., George Haylock, Jr., Hubert (Karla) Haylock, Donald (Alma) Haylock, Donna (Joey) de la Garza & Lloyd Bryan Haylock.; grandchildren: Lauren Rebecca Haylock, Gabriella Marie Haylock, Sophia Elise de la Garza, Diego Ivan Haylock and one on the way. George is also survived by his mother Yolanda Kirkconnell-Haylock of Tampa, FL, his three sisters; Georgia Powery Haylock from British Cayman Island, Judith Josephine Haylock-Brohawn and Tammy Haylock-Moore both of Tampa, FL; his two brothers, Rudolph S. Haylock of Port Arthur, TX and Jack Norris Haylock of Guanaja Bay Island, Honduras. Honorary pallbearers are: Austin (Red) Gabourel, Jasper Bodden, Louis Kirkconnell, William McLaughlin, Whitman Bodden, Bill Jefferies, Eddie Jeffries and Adler Bush. Visitation will be held Tuesday June 05, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to begin today at 6:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, 395 S. Sam Houston, in San Benito with Military Honors conducted at the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sunshine Haven, P.O. Box 4478, Brownsville, TX 78523.
