Paula Cantu, 44, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, a lifetime resident of Port Isabel, and a 1990 graduate of Port Isabel High School. She is preceded in death her husband, Angel Martinez; and her mother, Angelica Garza Cantu. She is survived by one son, Nabil Martinez; her father, Guillermo Cantu; one sister, Angelica (Sufian) Hashash; three brothers: Guillermo (Raquel) Cantu, Jr., Jose Maximo Cantu, and Felipe Cantu; nine nieces and nephews: Christopher Perez, Elisa Perez, Guillermo Cantu III, Rebecca Cantu, Jose Maximo Cantu, Jr., Raquel Angelica Cantu, Gabriel Cantu, Jamil Hashash, and Sanora Cantu; four grandnieces and grandnephews: Madeline Perez, Ethan Gaytan, Lucas Perez, and Giselle Gaytan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6th, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Guillermo Cantu, Jr., Jose Maximo Cantu, Felipe Cantu, Christopher Perez, Jose Maximo Cantu, Jr., and Gabriel Cantu. Honorary pallbearer is Guillermo Cantu III.
