Blas Perales, Sr., 90, from Rio Hondo, TX, passed away September 10, 2014. Blas was born April 14, 1924 to Eulalio and Cruz Perales. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jose, and his sister, Eulalia Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Esther A. Perales; sons: Eulalio, Blas (Louisa), Roberto (Veronica), and Manuel (Nora); daughters: Elena Ramos, Cruz Miselda (Carmelo) Ramirez, Ondina (Daniel) Diaz, and Graciela (Rudy Saenz) Perales. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters: Ventura Atkinson, Cruz Atkinson, Maria Cortez, Pomposa Garza, and Margarita Landeros; and three brothers: Francisco (Viola), Juan Perales, and Jesus (Lupita) Perales. Not only did we lose a beloved father, grandfather, but a cowboy. A strong, hard-working, dedicated man whom provided for his family and loved dearly. He was our strength, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a strong farmer/rancher whom later in life traveled with his wife to Florida to continue ranching with Charles Armstrong. Then later retired at the age of 72. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a service at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Los Anaquitas Cemetery in Rio Hondo, Texas. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Javier Perales, Steven Perales, Roberto Perales, Nazario Perales, Ismael Perales, Jonathan Perales, Robby Perales, and Blas A. Perales. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons: David Perales, Jon Perales, Ezequiel Ramos, Joel Ramos, Derek Perales, Marco Perales, and JD Perales.
