Miguel Maximo Gonzalez, 47, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. Miguel was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He was employed with Blue Marlin on South Padre Island for many years. He was full of life and loved barbequing for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Segovia Gonzalez and Maria "Nena" Lucila Gonzalez; a brother, Pedro Gonzalez Jr., paternal grandparents, Francisco and Esperanza Segovia Gonzalez; and maternal grandparents, Jose Maximo and Paula Cantu. Miguel is survived by his two daughters, Jasmin Marie Garza and Lucila Marie Gonzalez; two sons, Miguel Maximo (Vanessa) Gonzalez Jr. and Michael Ryan Gonzalez; one grandbaby on the way; a sister, Jennifer Marie (Anthony) Hoshino; three brothers, Francisco (Jeanette) Cantu, Rolando Gonzalez, and Pedro (Stacy) Gonzalez; several aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and will continue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Justin Cantu, Nolan Nuñez, Jorge Martinez, Johnny Rivera, Maximo Cantu III, Juan M. Cantu Jr., Alen Patino and Isaac Martinez.
