Maria "Magee" Gonzalez, 75, of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2014 to be with our Lord. She was born July 9, 1938 in Los Fresnos, Texas to Margarito Gonzalez and Norberta Galarza Gonzalez. Maria grew up and lived all her life in Los Fresnos, Texas and was a graduate of Los Fresnos High School. She was an Executive Secretary and Bookkeeper for over 40 years to the present at Port Elevator- Brownsville. This loving sister, aunt, grand-aunt and Godmother enjoyed life and being around her family. Her cheerful, giving, and caring ways will always be remembered, but she will mostly be remembered for her love of all sports. She was the # 1 fan of all her nieces and nephews. She was a loyal Falcons fan and loved to follow all the school sports. Maria was preceded in death by her father, Margarito Gonzalez; her mother, Norberta Gonzalez; brother, Francisco Gonzalez, sister, Apolinar Fernandez; and nephew, Saul Armando Fernandez. Maria is survived by her siblings: Baldemar (Beatrice) Gonzalez, Rosa (Pablo) Cantu, Ramon Gonzalez; sister-in-law, Cristina Gonzalez; brother-in-law, Arnoldo Fernandez; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, Texas. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are: Jacob Fernandez, Juan Pablo Cantu, Danny Fernandez, Eric Gonzalez, Isaac Adrian, Saul "Ozzie" Fernandez, Mike Fernandez, Jr., and Joshua Ortiz.
