Cristin T. Martinez, 93, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2014 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. Cristin was a WWII Veteran, honorably discharged from the United States Army, and served as a member of the VFW Post 8791. He was also a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a lifetime resident of Port Isabel, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose J. and Apolonia T. Martinez; four sisters: Hortencia Carter, Virginia Martinez, Juanita De Bouver, and Maria Aguirre; and four brothers: Guillermo Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Domingo Martinez, and Blas Martinez. Surviving him is his sister, Nicolas Uresti, and his brother, Palcido T. Martinez, both of Port Isabel, Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St, Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery with military honors to be conducted at graveside by past District 18 Commander Luis Lucio, VFW Post 2035 of Brownsville, VFW Post 8791, and American Legion Post 498, both of Port Isabel.
