Dad, It has almost been a year now since you passed away on Mother's Day - May 8, 2011. Mom is doing well, but I know that she missed you every day. All of the kids and grandkids think of you so often - you are reflected in our words, actions and values - not to mention our love of the ocean, family, and doing what is right. I love you, dad.

Dad, You would be so proud of mom and all of us kids....You and mom were such great parents. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you in some way. I talk to mom pretty much every day. She misses you so much - but she is doing well. I know the dogs miss you do. I love you dad. Holidays are coming....This will be the first big ones for us to not have you here. We love you, dad - always.

Bo and family, I am sorry for your loss. Dr. Machado was a great doctor and a wonderful man. He took care of me in the ER when I was 19 years old and got kicked by a horse and he was making me laugh and wanting to know if I kicked the horse back - made me feel secure to know Dr. Machado was taking care of me! Although I had never actually met Dr. Machado, I felt like I knew him through all of those who shared about him with me. His work ethic, devotion and care for others exemplified his life. And although he will be missed by so many, the memories of his actions while here on earth will be those that last forever. A timeless treasure. Just like him. He is now at peace like the peace he gave to others.

You and Chicky Poo are a wonderful example of a beautiful life and beautiful love. I will miss you so much. Rest peacefully. Love Always, Devon

Doc, I have so many fond memories of the times we spent together, whether it was out on the boat fishing with Andrew or tinkering around in the Fred Sanford area downstairs. As a son in law I never felt like the in law part. You and mother dear have always treated me as a son and for that I am very blessed. As a grandpa Andrew could not have asked for anyone better. Save me a seat on the boat I'll bring the red worms. You are loved and will be missed. The professor will see you again someday. Love always Scott

Dad,I am so glad that you are my father. Your work ethic, dedication, stength and leadership have allowed me to be successful in all facets of my life. Rest well and continue to watch over me and all those that I love. Andrew had a baseball game the day after you passed. He played his heart out. Pitched and hit fantastic. His last motion on the mound after making the final out was to look up in the sky at you watching him. Best seat in the house! We love you, Lisa Elizabeth Machado Herrman

Mrs. Machado, Lisa and family. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Dr. Machado was a brilliant doctor and was always so nice to me. God Bless you all. Lisa, You were my first love and will always have a special place in my heart. I pray God gives you and your family strength during this tough time. Give everyone a hug for me. Dad - okay - here is part II... Yeah, I can hear your voice saying: vaccinated with a phonograph needle :) Here is the rest -I thank you for always loving me, believing in me and being the kind, strong and and faithful dad to me - More than that, even - I thank you for loving and being the unbelievable role model to my sons Ryan and Trevor. They were so blessed to be so close to mom and you - and learned so much from your work ethic, leadership, humility, charity, laughter, intelligence and unconditional love. I will miss having you here and love you, dad. I am so glad that you will continue to look out for us. I promise that we will continue to make you proud. I love you, dad. Ann

Dad, You have been the best dad anyone could dream of - such a huge leader and influence in all of the right ways. You taught us to believe in ourselves, do our best, live, laugh and love to the fullest, to have faith in God and each other, and to always know and do what is right for our family and for others. You have always been a giant presence in our lives as a father, husband, grandfather, friend, supporter, counselor, doctor, fisherman, hunter, boater and all around family man. I will never forget all of the funny things you would say and do, or your incredible wisdom. I carry these stories and experiences with me all of the time and everywhere I go. We have had quite a journey together since your fall on July 18, 2010. While I wish it had never happened, I would not trade our conversations together during those many late and extended hours and days for anything - but I would wish you back healthy in a heartbeat. You never gave up, nor did any of us. Today, the journey came full circle and I am at peace, as I know you are. Know that I will make sure that mom is taken care of just like I promised you. You need to know that you taught me, through your example, just how to do that. I have to go to page 2 on this one...Funny, but not surprising, right, dad?!
