San Benito, TX - Teodoro E. "Ted" Banda, 61, of San Benito, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 19, 2014 after fighting a lengthy illness. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He gave the City of Harlingen over 30 years of devoted service. He retired in 2004 to spend time with his wife and family enjoying the outdoors and caring for his younger daughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francisca C. Banda; his father, Teodoro Banda; and a grandson, Mark Anthony Banda. Teodoro is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Gilbert Cruz) and Aleesa Banda; a son, Jon Jon (Sandra Silva) Banda; his mother Raquel A. Banda, grandchildren, Jeremiah (Jessica Sandoval) Orta, Sasha Aguilar, Roy Angel Aguilar, John Damian, Michael, Hailey, and Nathaniel Banda; a great grandchild, Savannah Aguilar; brothers, Jose Francisco (Alejandra) Banda, Pedro C. Banda, Raynaldo A. Banda, Juan A. (Diana) Banda, Jesus D. (Angie) Banda; sisters, Maria B. Roberts, R. Martha Garza, Juanita V. (Raymundo) Garza, Norma B. (Hector) Leandro, Laura (Anselmo) Sosa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 and Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm on both nights at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to Las Yescas Cemetery.
