Roberto Mendez, 37, of Los Fresnos, Texas, entered into rest on April 24, 2014. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Daniel Mendez. Surviving him is his spouse, Juana Garcia; three children: Melody Mendez; Yailee Mendez, and Roberto Carlos Mendez; his parents: Rodrigo and Josefa Mendez; his sister, Yolanda Mendez; and three brothers: Alexander Mendez, Horacio Mendez, and Reymundo Mendez. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
