Juan "La Mona" Ramirez, Jr., 64, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into rest on April 16, 2014 at Brownsville Rehab and Nursing Home in Brownsville, Texas after a longtime illness.
Juan was born on February 16, 1950 to Juan Ramirez, Sr., and Carmela Camacho in Port Isabel. Texas. Juan was a lifetime resident from Port Isabel and dedicated his life to the shrimping industry until the day he got very ill. Juan loved to be out in the sea watching the waves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Ramirez, Sr. and Carmela Camacho; sister, Dorothy Brown; and his oldest daughter, Laura Ramirez.
He is survived by his wife, Ninfa Garcia Ramirez of Port Isabel, Texas; children: Janet Ramirez of Brownsville, Texas, Rachel Ramirez of Houston, Texas, Juan Pablo Ramirez of Brownsville, Texas, Jason Ramirez of Waco, Texas, Joanna (Jose) Garza of Port Isabel, Texas, Jennifer Ramirez of Virginia, and Jackie Thurston of Florida.Also surviving him are several grandchildren; two brothers: Felipe Brown and Walter Ray "Shorty" Leblanc; three sisters: Lupita Rodriguez, Mary Hurtado, and Ida Burton; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow in accordance to his wishes.
