James Granger Poe III was born on February 2, 1927 and passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. He was a graduate of Texas University, a veteran of WWII, and long-time resident of the valley. For most of his life he lived outside of San Benito and in Port Isabel. He was an ardent outdoorsman who will be mourned by his family including his beloved dogs. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lyddy Poe of San Benito, and brother, Pat Poe of Houston. Grave side funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Mont Meta Memorial in San Benito.
