Delores Irene Owens, 75, of Port Isabel, Texas/Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Retama Manor in Harlingen, TX. Delores, daughter of Henry Newton Ackerman and Ella Pauline Kramer, was born January 25, 1939 near Mt. Zion school house in Decatur, Arkansas. She attended Decatur schools, and graduated from Bentonville High School. She married Robert "Bob" Sheldon Owens April 5, 1957 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She and "Bob" lived in Bentonville, AR until November, 1968, then moved to Brownsville, TX where Bob worked for Robinson Greenhouse, then was employed personally by the Robinson family. Irene owned and operated a day care facility in Brownsville for several years before relocating to Port Isabel, TX. She then owned and operated a laundry at San Benito, TX since 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Pauline Ackerman; and brothers, Buddy and Rolla Ackerman. Left to cherish her memory her husband of 56 years, Robert "Bob" Sheldon Owens; their one son, Robert "Kirk" Owens (wife, Laura); two grandchildren, Kirk Anthony Owens and Brittany Ann Owens; siblings, Mary Tipton, Frances Milliken, Elaine Tillman (husband, Harley), John Ackerman (wife, Tonia), Edward Ackerman (wife, Sharon), Catherine Wright (husband, Roy), and Wayne Ackerman.
