Brenda Baldovinos, a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, peacefully passed at the age of 54 on February 11, 2014. She was born on July 30, 1959 and lived most of her life in Port Isabel. Brenda was the Owner/Director of Stepping Stones Learning Center along with her loving husband Juan Baldovinos. She loved all her "babies" that she taught throughout the years and thoroughly enjoyed being a teacher. Brenda was an active member of our community, previously serving on the Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation's Board of Directors as President and on the City's Parks and Recreation Board. Brenda was also a member of the Friends of the Library. As a passionate educator, she served on many committees and organizations for the betterment of our school district for many years, serving as Co-President of Band Boosters, member and organizer of PTO, and most recently serving on SHAC. However, Brenda had currently dedicated her time as a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, serving as a member of the Choir, ACTS member, ACTS Retreat Co-Director, a founding member of the Catholic Daughters of America, an organizer for Quinceñeras Retreats, Marriage Preparer, and assisted in youth ministries at every opportunity. She was preceded in death by her parents Jose Arturo & Alejandrina O. Garza. She is survived by her loving husband, Juan M. Baldovinos; one son, J. Victor (Alicia) Baldonvinos; two daughters: Kristine (Gilbert Silva) Baldovinos and Brittney N. Baldovinos; four grandchildren: Michael Bernard, Lara Baldovinos, Marcos Baldovinos, and Mia Silva. Also surviving her are her siblings: Juan (Josephina) Orozco, Maria M. (Wenceslao, Sr.) Guillen, Eloy Garza, Ernesto Garza, Odelia (John) Cabrera, and Eliza (Mario) Arvizu. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 6 pm to 9pm, with a holy rosary at 7 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705, S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas. Funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance to her wishes. Serving as pallbearers are: Brandon Baldovinos, Hector Martinez, Arturo Guillen, Martin Baldovinos, Jr., Jesse Guajardo, Ricky Guajardo, Shiloh Sanders, Joshua Garza, Edgar Cruz, David Rivera.
