Guadalupe S. Zamora, 77, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 in Laguna Vista, TX surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents: Pedro and Cecilia Romero-Sandoval; brother, Isaias Sandoval; and sister, Juanita Sanchez. Mrs. Zamora was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and moved to Port Isabel area in the late 50's. Seeing this town grow she employed herself as a cook knowing she had a unique taste for Tex-Mex Food, she later opened her greatly, sought after La Siesta Café in the 1970's. She worked for several restaurants in the Laguna Madre area throughout the years, as well as fulfilling her last dream to help and design her daughter's restaurant, Ceci's. Guadalupe also had a passion for gardening. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 yrs., Juan G. Zamora; sons, Gerardo Gonzalez and Roberto (Zonia) Zamora; daughters: Cecilia (Horacio) Marin, Rosa Zamora, Linda Zamora, and Terry Zamora; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitations will be held on Easter Sunday April 24, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Cremation will follow in accordance with her wishes. Pallbearers will be Gerardo Gonzalez, Jr., Johnny Lopez, Arron Garcia, Joe Rodriguez, Adrian Rodriguez, Jaime Rodriguez, Luis Enrique Lozano, and Isaiah Rodriguez.
