Obituary of Tomas Alvarez

San Benito, Texas- Tomas Alvarez, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Retama Manor Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas.
Tomas was 90 years of age and lived in San Benito his entire life. He joined the US Air Force in 1942 in San Antonio, Texas where he met and married his wife, Nora Maldonado. As a young adult, Tomas was an avid deer hunter alongside his dad. He read the newspaper everyday and had a great interest in politics, state and federal. He never missed voting in every election.
Mr. Alvarez was preceded in death by his parents, Monico and Angelina Alvarez, wife of 47 years Nora Maldonado; a brother, Juan Alvarez and sisters, Eleanor Messick, Maria Luisa Alvarez and Lucia Hartman.
He is survived by his two sons, Tomas Alvarez Jr. and Frank Alvarez; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Alvarez, Mary Alice Noriega and Annie Arenas; four sisters, Esther Mills, Dolores Gonzalez , Beatrice Cavazos and Mary Angelina Alvarez-Beckham; numerous grandchildren and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 23, 2012 at 2 PM to 9 PM with a holy rosary to be recited at 7 PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Directors.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 2 PM at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park
