Odilia Cortez, 57, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on December 10, 2013 in San Benito. She worked for Levis Strauss for over 25 years and was currently employed with Valley Baptist Medical Center for the past 10 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents: Alfredo C. Cortez, Sr. and Antonia R. Cortez. Surviving her is her son, Eric (Amanda Valdez) Cortez; one grandson, Alfredo Joseph Cortez, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her sisters: Diana Galvan, Rosalinda Martinez, Norma Teal, Thelma Mata, and Raquel Cortez; her brothers: Alfredo Cortez, Jr., Ruben Cortez, Sr., Jonas Cortez Sr., Edward Cortez, Sr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. A chapel service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Las Rusias Cemetery.
