Luisa Atkinson, 99, of San Benito, Texas, entered into eternal rest on November 25, 2013. She owned and operated the family business, Atkinson's Grocery in El Jardin for many years. She was known to many and will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dominga and Cecilio Atkinson; three brothers: Daniel (Julia) Atkinson, Fernando (Felipa) Atkinson, Santos (Beatriz) Atkinson; and one sister, Hortencia (+Gilbert Barrera). Surviving her are her siblings: Consuelo Atkinson, Pauline (+Eddie) Valenzuela, Lupita ( Manuel) Agado, and Eva (Frank) Villafuerte. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers are: Eddie and Bobby Valenzuela, Ricky Sr., Manuel Jr., Charlie Agado, Frank Jr., Rene Villafuerte Sr., and Cecilio Atkinson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Danny Atkinson Jr., Gilbert Barrera Jr., and Hector Atkinson.
