Delfina Castillo whom many knew as "Fina" passed away on October 22, 2013 just after midnight, surrounded by her children. Many in Port Isabel will remember that Delfina worked as a cook at many of the South Padre Island and Port Isabel restaurants. She had been a stay at home mom with a few part time jobs here and there before the death of her husband. After her husband's passing she found it necessary to provide for her family and started her career in the restaurant industry, and remained there for thirty years. She was a humble, diligent, funny, hard-working, firm, loving, protective, giving, honorable mother, friend, and associate who always extended a hand to the poor and needy, and always provided a warm meal when you needed it. She will be missed by all who loved her and considered her a friend. Delfina is now united with her beloved husband, Francisco Castillo who passed away on June 23, 1974. She is survived by her children, Martha Aguila, Rosario "Chayo" Aguila, Frank Castillo, Jr., Pete Castillo, Rosemary Bernal, Sylvia Hedrick, Eva Castillo Greene, Victor Castillo, Yolanda Krzywonski and Abraham Castillo, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, one sister and her cousin Graciela. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 4pm to 9pm with a holy rosary to be recited at 7pm at Thomae Garza Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Monday, October 28, 2013 from 6pm to 9pm with a holy rosary at 7pm at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria Street in Port Isabel. Funeral Mass will be at 10am Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Our Lady Star if the Sea Catholic Church followed by interment at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Sympathy Cards may be sent to P.O.
