Port Isabel, TX: Maria Aurora (Dora) Baldovinos, 62, of Port Isabel, TX passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at her residence in Port Isabel, TX. She is preceded in death by her father, David Chavez Aguilar and her son, Frankie Baldovinos.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Rosa Maria (Martin) Chavez de Alvarado, Lydia Baldovinos, Martha (Joe) Trevino, Aurora (Hector) Martinez and Sylvia Baldovinos; her sons, Martin Baldovinos, Jr. and Joe David Baldovinos; her mother, Francisca Mata Gonzalez; her sisters, Santa Kelly and Maria del Pilar Mata Gonzalez; her brothers, Jose Luis Chavez and Mariano Chavez; 24 grandchildren and 5 great - grandchildren.
Dora was a life long resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. She worked for many years in the restaurant industry, making long-lasting friendships everywhere she worked. Although Dora suffered many trials and tribulations in her life, most recently the loss of her beloved son, Frankie Baldovinos, she never wavered in her faith. Her belief in God and the knowledge that one day she would be reunited with her son provided her the strength and courage to live a full and joyous life to the end.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2008 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel with Father Gerry Barrett officiating. Committal Service will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery located in Port Isabel.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Brandon Baldovinos, Oscar Noe Villarreal, Robert Trevino, Estevan Trevino, Lucio Chavez and Greg Garza; serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Coy Kelly and Jeffrey Guajardo.
The family would like to thank the staff of MedTeam and Odyssey Health Care, especially Ana Gonzalez, Tere Camacho, and Maria Almendarez, for all the love, care and attention they provided their mother during her final days. Special thanks also to the Mock Family and all the caring people who visited and prayed for their mother until the day she was called home to rest.
