Lupez V. "La Patona" Mendoza, 69, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on September 7, 2013 in Olmito, Texas. Lupez loved hunting and fishing. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be missed dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Mendoza and Genoveva Vasquez Mendoza; and his nephew Jose Manuel Morales, Jr. Lupez is survived by his children: Margaret (Candido Jr.) Ortiz, Mary (Alfonso) Rodriguez, Milly (David) Jimenez, Melissa (Juan) Mendoza, Melinda Mendoza, Otila (Louie) Chavez, Lupez Mendoza, Jr., Lupe Mendoza, Joaquin Mendoza, and Marlene Mendoza; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his brothers and sisters: Felix Mendoza, Jr., Roy Mendoza, Joaquin Mendoza, Cristy Mendoza, Olga Mendoza, and Johnny Mendoza, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Cremation will follow in accordance with his wishes. Serving as pallbearers are: Jacob Ortiz, Edward Cortez, Justin Rodriguez, Jonathan Ruiz, Felix Mendoza III, Aaron Mendoza, Jeremy Rodriguez, and Joshua Ortiz.
