Port Isabel,TX - Serafina Garza Montoya, 70, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at her residence in Port Isabel, TX.
Serafina was born on September 28, 1942 in Port Isabel, Texas to the late Juan Jose and Zoila Garcia Barrera.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Nicolas Barrera; a nephew, Martin Garza; an uncle, Cirilo Garcia; and aunts, Clara Martinez and Elvira Garcia.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Raul Montoya; her children, Mirta (Enrique) Barboza, Xavier Sanchez, Saul (Isela) Sanchez, Roberto Montoya, and Elisa (Peter) Morrissey; grandchildren, Ariana Barboza, Illiana Barboza, Sarah Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez, Kristian Sanchez, Brendon Marcus Rivera - Montoya, and Andrew Morrissey; a sister, Maria Isabel (Sergio) De La Garza; brothers, Juan Jose (Damiana) Garza, Samuel (Guadalupe) Garza, Jesus (Maria Del Carmen) Barrera, Rodolfo (Matilde) Barrera, Guadalupe Barrera, and Raul Barrera; a sister in law, Clara Barrera; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and will continue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, TX.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, TX. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery.
