San Benito/S. Padre Island - David Dean Magargee passed away on February 29, 2008 doing what he loved best, fishing in the Laguna. David was born on August 1, 1961 in Cordell, Oklahoma, where his father was stationed at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base. In 1969 David's father retired from the air force and the family moved to San Benito, Texas. They also constructed a home on South Padre Island and split their time between both houses. David graduated from San Benito High School in 1980 and went on to obtain a Bachelors Degree in History and a Masters Degree in Cultural Anthropology from UT Pan American. David spent his recent years writing on various subjects in an effort to be published. David was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Magargee. He is survived by his 4 older brothers, James (Puring) Magargee of Atwater, California, Peter (Kathy) Magargee of Tomball, Texas, Mark (Sheryl) Magargee of Bakersfield, California, Chris (Christy) Magargee of McKinney, Texas; his younger sister, Suzanne Magargee of New Braunfels, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel.
