Los Fresnos, TX- Graciela T. Hernandez, 58, of Los Fresnos, TX passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008 at her resident in Los Fresnos, Texas. "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Phil 1; 21). These were the words she would claim when she found out she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 1997. In December 2004, she received a lung transplant knowing the risk. The added years of life gave her an opportunity to enjoy her life to the fullest with a grateful heart. She was a native of Brownsville, Texas. She would have been a 1967 graduate of Brownsville High., but finished her senior year in Idaho. Later, after receiving her degree from Pan America University at Edinburg, Texas in 1973, she taught in the school districts of Donna, Austin, Dallas and Garland. In 2006, she and her husband, Francisco Hernandez, returned to the Valley to retire in the beautiful city of Los Fresnos. She is preceded death by her parents Alberto and Maria Luisa Trevino. She is survived by her spouse, Francisco Hernandez; 3 children, Frank (Rocio) Hernandez, Vianey Hernandez and Leandra (John) Cavallo; 3 grandchildren, Nathaniel Hernandez, Juaquin A. Hernandez and Ilan Diego Hernandez; 1 brother, Alberto Trevino and a sister Rosario Valdez. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 01, 2008 at 11 AM at Abundant Life Church, 299 Ocean Blvd., Los Fresnos, TX 78566.
