Asencion was born in Mexico on May 26, 1927. She was married to Candelario Mota for 67 years. She became a US citizen on May 16, 1997. She was a very simple lady with great faith. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel and enjoyed listening to God's word on TV evangelization channel all day. She was a very spiritually filled Christian who had many friends and loved to sing hymns and praises to the Lord every day.
She was not a very educated person but she was able to express herself poetically and with touching and motivational words. Her kind and encouraging words were expressed in greeting cards she presented to her family and friends. Her hobby was working in the yard. She will always be remembered for her speeches and lectures she gave, not just to her family but to her friends as well. She was one special lady who cared so much for her grandchildren; she always had some good advice for every one of them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Candelario "Cande" Mota; and parents, Magdaleno and Francisca Gallegos.
Asencion is survived by her three daughters: Janie Mota, Petra Orta, and Maria Elena Martinez; her son, Mark Mota; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
