Matt was a very good person at heart, I have lost contact over the years here in Vegas - tragedy to see anyone go so soon. I wish all the family best wishes and quick healing as I know from losing my father years back just how painful this is - and that no condolances really hit the spot. Both my mother and I were close with the Thorton family, he will be missed ... it has been a sad week. Best wishes.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Matt. I remember Matt going back to little league baseball in Raymondville, Texas during the early 1980's. His daddy was a real good friend of my father's as well. I had the honor of going on a hunting trip with him and his father south of Hargill, Texas during the late 1980's. He was a good man, father, son, uncle, and "one of the good guys" for which i am honored to have known.

I was very sad to hear the news about Matt. So many great memories of the neighborhood kids my age (Jason, Staton, Matt - and thank goodness girls when Tammy and Tracey moved in down the street, so it wasn't just my sister and me!) I've shared many of these memories with my 9-year old. She just asked me the other day, "What was the name of that boy you met when he got stuck on your roof?" - Yes, that was Matt. And I remember in 1st grade when he was done with an assignment, he'd slam his pencil down on the desk and scream, "FINISHED!" Yeah - we do that at home now afer homework! We have fond memories of Matt as a young boy growing up down the street from our house. He and Staton, Jason, and our daughters enjoyed many hours playing together and attending school at Pittman Elementary. I remember one day Staton ringing our doorbell, saying there was a boy stuck on our roof and then running off. I rushed outside and sure enough there was Matt on the roof. I got out the ladder, he climbed down and ran home. Later I found out that he had just recently recovered from a broken bone and was not supposed to be doing any climbing!
