Obituary of Guadalupe Saavedra
Please share a memory of Guadalupe to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Guadalupe Saavedra, 85, of San Benito, TX was called to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Harlingen Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Guadalupe Saavedra was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She instilled the importance of prayer and religion in her family. Guadalupe enjoyed working in her garden, singing in the choir, and reciting psalms by memory. She loved playing the game Chalupa, but hated losing at it. The proud mother was the happiest when her home was filled with her children and great grandchildren's laughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carlos Saavedra.
She is survived by her six children, Antonia Carmona of La Feria, Anita S. Walters of San Benito, Carlos (Patricia) Saavedra, Jr. of San Antonio, Juan Jose (Jeanne) Saavedra of Pasadena, Simon (Glenda) Saavedra of Riviera, and Jaime Saavedra of San Benito; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Trinidad Arevalo and Josefina Chavana; and a brother, Samuel Saldivar.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Maria de Jesus Munoz, Dr. Nolan Perez, and Dr. Luis Gonzalez for the continued care and support provided in her final years.
