Obituary of Aurora Moody

Aurora S. Moody, 100, of San Benito, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2013.
Aurora was born January 30, 1912 in Mercedes, Texas to Bernardo and Josephina Munoz Saenz. She married Luis T. Moody on May 7, 1929. Aurora enjoyed cooking, baking, and especially loved to work in her rose garden and yard. She was a member at St. Benedict Catholic Church and in her younger years was very involved with the Vela Perpetua Altar Society and the church bazaars. She enjoyed the company of her family and the newest addition, her great-grandson, Luc Moody Garza.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luis T. Moody; father Bernardo Saenz; mother Josephina Munoz Saenz; brothers: Pilar, Arturo, Daniel, and Jose Saenz; sisters: Leonor Pena and Josefina Saenz; stepbrothers: Amadeo and Reynaldo Saenz; and her stepsisters: Elia Gonzalez, Beatrice Quintanilla, and Theodora Saenz.
Aurora is survived by her daughter, Carmen M. (Leo) Garza of Harlingen, Texas, her son Luis R.(Ursula) Moody of Glenview Illinois; grandchildren: Leo Garza, Lauren Garza, and Mia Garza, Ari Garza, of Harlingen, Texas; Victoria G. Medellin of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Grace M. Moody of Chicago, Illinois; sisters: Lydia Saenz of Mercedes, Texas and Gloria Sauceda of Lansing, Michigan.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 14, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow at Las Rucias Cemetery.
The family would like to give thanks to the nurses of Odyssey Hospice Care and especially to Maria Banuelos who never left her side and to Polly Moody for always being there.
