Obituary of Maria Felix Montemayor

Maria Felix Montemayor, 65, of San Benito, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.

Maria was born to Mr. Fraulio Martinez and Mrs. Maria Santos Banuelos. She was the oldest, and had the role of Head of the Family at a very young age. She didn't have the privilege to further her education, but that didn't stop her from being the fearless, honest, loving, caring, strong, brave, generous, hardworking, fighter of a woman. She raised her four kids with her husband, helping always and encouraging them to go further in their education. She taught them to do their best. Maria enjoyed being a grandmother and being with her grandkids. She loved to work and was very good at it too. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, and just relaxing with Lil Bear, her little dog, and Luna, the cat. She worked as a housekeeper for La Quintana Inn and Suites and then Hampton Inn and Suites in Harlingen, Texas for more than 20 years. Maria was the most wonderful mother and grandmother anyone could have asked for. She will be greatly missed by all her family.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Porfirio Martinez; her father, Fraulio Martinez; mother, Maria Santos Banuelos; her husband, Ernesto Montemayor; and her oldest daughter, Margarita Castro.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her children, Marcelina Banuelos, Ernesto Montemayor, Jr., Alberto Montemayor; daughter in law, Sara Ramirez- Montemayor, and son in law, Rogelio Castro; her grandchildren, Amber, Miranda, Brianna, Ellie Castro, Carlos Ernesto Montemayor, Lucas Tadeo Montemayor, and Olivia Monserrat Montemayor; and great-grandchild, Isaac Daniel Garcia.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Services will conclude at 9:00 p.m.
