Ricardo "Richard" Alaniz, 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 12, 2024, in his home in Rio Hondo, Texas. Richard was born on July 29, 1945, in San Benito, Texas, to Gregorio Alaniz and Irene Muniz. He dedicated his early life to his work as an auto mechanic, running his own business: Richard's Auto Clinic, where he earned a reputation for his strong work ethic and skill. In his down time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and racing. He had a strong will and a straightforward nature. Despite his tough exterior, he had a warm heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He is survived by his sweetheart of 57 years Delores Alaniz, their 3 children Rhonda Jean Alaniz, Richard Pruitt Alaniz and Ryan Gregory Alaniz. 5 grandchildren Robynn Elaine Olivarez (Samuel J. Olivarez), JR Gomez, John David Gomez, Justin Richard Gomez (Tiffany Gonzalez) and Reba Eileen Gomez (Ricky Hernandez) and his 12 great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Richard, also known as “Papa,” looked forward to family gatherings where he would enjoy the company of his great-grandchildren playing, laughing and cherishing every moment he had with them. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
