It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Candelaria Barrera. Born February 2, 1949, Maria led a great life as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. At 75 years old, Maria passed in her home on July 24, 2024. Maria is preceded in death by her mother, Lorenza Garcia, her two siblings, Guadalupe Fonseca and Cruz Garcia, and her loving husband, Fidel Barrera. She is survived by her three children, Anne Vasquez, Alicia Barrera, and Fidel Barrera Jr., her eight grandchildren, Iris Garcia, Magdaleno Pena Jr., Amanda Vasquez, Malcolm Pena, Fernando Vasquez Jr., Ryan Barrera, Megan Vasquez, and Troy Barrera, her eighteen great-grandchildren, and her two sisters, San Juanita Ortiz and Helena Aguilar. At such a difficult time, it’s important to remember the good times shared with Maria. She will be remembered by her family as a kind, loving, humorous, and compassionate woman. She could always be found with a cup of coffee, some sweetbread or cookies, watching television with her loved ones. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we find comfort in that she is at peace and reunited with her husband and mother. Private Memorial Servives will be held at a later date.
