On May 19, 2024, Jose Eliodoro Espinoza entered the heavenly kingdom and fulfilled the words of Matthew 25:23, "Well done, good and faithful servant.” Jose, also known as Joe, Pepe, Colombo, and to several nieces and nephews as “Tio Pepe Joe”, was a man of great humility and wisdom. He was a quiet soul who loved his friends, family, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Although Jose’s primary profession was truck driver, he was a “jack of all trades”, who could find a solution to any problem. Jose was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to everyone he met. He was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista for most of his life and was honored to serve as a Deacon for the last 35 years. “Brother Joe” would work in almost any capacity as groundskeeper, chauffeur, Sunday School Teacher, or pit master for church fundraisers. Jose was born on June 30, 1936, to Luis and Virginia Balli Espinoza in La Paloma, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Virginia Espinoza; brothers, Abel Espinoza, Ovidio Espinoza, Wally Espinoza, and Ezequiel “Kelly” Espinoza. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Paula Aguilera Espinoza; children, Rosa (Cecilio) Olivarez, Jose E. Sanchez, Mary Jane Espinoza, and Josefina Elia Espinoza; grandchildren, Melissa, Sheila, Cecilio Jr., Terry, Judas, Gina, Priscilla, Emilio Jr., and Reynaldo; 19 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Lily Tice, Santiago “Jimmy” Espinoza, and Aurora Villarreal; sister-in-law, Maria Espinoza; aunts, Eva Ponce and Olivia Holt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 3-9 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 501 W Robertson St, San Benito, TX 78586, with interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe A Ramirez Sr., Aubrey S. Grayson, Leroy Gomez, Ernesto Villarreal Jr. Armando Cantu, and Rick Balli.
