Diane Kinning, age 81 of Laguna Vista TX formerly from Norfolk Nebraska passed away April 13th at her home. Diane Lee Glissman was born in Pender Nebraska. She was the only child of Harlan and Perella Ellenwood Glissman. The family later moved to Lyons Nebraska and she graduated from Lyons Nebraska Public Schools in 1960. She then attended Wayne State College for one semester. She married Donald Kinning in the fall of 1961. They had two children, Vicky Lynn and Allen Donald. They lived in Lyons until moving to Norfolk Nebraska in 1974. During her time in Norfolk, she enjoyed volunteer work, playing the weekly pitch games with friends and bowling on Thursday mornings. The family and friends enjoyed camping and boating every weekend at Lewis & Clark Lake. At the age of 45, her life changed drastically with a divorce. She had never worked outside of home or driven a car. Her first job was being a Nanny for three very special girls. She learned to drive and bought her first car. She then went to work at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home for 20 years. After retiring from there, she took a job at Meadows Assisted Living until retiring at age 70. She was the proud God-mother to Jon Kinning and Jami Mohl. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Allen Donald, her ex-husband and friend Donald Kinning, brother in-laws Bud Kinning, Ron Kinning, Larry Ahlers, Duane Ahlers and sister in-law Karla Kinning. A nephew Jeff Ahlers and niece Shelly Kinning. She is survived by her daughter Vicky Kinning, her dog Mr. Pops, her cat Cocoa and grand cats Fischer and Chloe of Laguna Vista TX. Her ex son in-law Rick Olin, grand dogs Abby, Daisy, Lucy and Chi Chi of De Beque CO. Sister in-laws Charlene Kinning, Georgia Kinning, Diane Ahlers, Norma (Boyd) Hightree and Brother in-law Bob Kinning. Many nieces and nephews who meant the world to her. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 10 Hunt Rd. Los Fresnos, TX 78566 with the scattering of ashes at sea to follow.
