Myrta Huerta, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away on March 25, 2024, in McAllen, Texas, at the age of 86. She was born on October 31, 1937, in San Benito, Texas. Myrta will always be remembered for her unwavering love and support for her family. She and her husband, Ricardo, dedicated themselves to providing opportunities for their children. Myrta took great pride in her three children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren’s life’s accomplishments. Her faith in the Lord, joy in life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through unexpected challenges, which were truly inspiring to all who knew her. Through her, we know what faith, resilience and perseverance truly look like. In her 20-year career at KMart, Myrta showcased her strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, she found joy in baking cakes and holiday home decorating, hobbies that brought her immense happiness. Myrta was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia S. Medina; father, Manuel Medina; daughter, Sandra Huerta; and siblings, Alfredo Medina, Lionel Medina, and Guadalupe Medina. Myrta is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ricardo Huerta, her children Ricardo Huerta Jr (Eva), Emelda Huerta (Rudy), Sally Thomas (Tim); her grandchildren, Briana Saldivar, Ricardo Huerta III (Chelsea), Jazelle Zuniga (Sonny), Amanda Velazquez (Justin), Trace Thomas, Jake Thomas; and her great-grandchildren Jenilee Muniz, Melanie Obregon, Robert Obregon Jr, Sonny Zuniga Jr, Zendaya Zuniga. In addition, she is survived by her sister Mary Robledo and brother Basilio Medina. Myrta's life will be celebrated at a Visitation Service to be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 3 pm to 9 pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 10:00 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St, San Benito, TX with interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
