Carmen R. Leal, 80, of San Benito, TX passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at his residence. He loved spending time with his family, listening to music, talking about his cars and racing, and being outdoors whether it was working in the yard or garden and burning brush. He was always with his wife by his side. He is preceded in death by his son, Ruben Leal; his parents, Raul and Hortencia Leal; in-laws, Estanislado Sr. and Antonia M. Limon; and brother, Israel Leal. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Bertha Limon Leal; sons, Carmen Jr. (Rosa G.), Rene Leal (Veronica Marquez); grandchildren, Erik Carmen (Kasee), Brandon Rey (Brittney), Karina Beatrice, Laila Renee, Leslie Estrella Leal, and step grandson, Albert Limas. In addition, he is survived by great grandchild, Maddielynn Neveah Leal; brother’s, Jose Adan (Dalia) Leal, Raul Jr. (Sandra) Leal; sisters, Estephana (+Martin) Sanchez, Esmeralda (+Alfredo) Machuca, Graciela (+Arnold) Gonzales; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 22091 Farmers Avenue, La Paloma, TX with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
