We are sad to announce the passing of Esmeralda M. Avila of San Benito, TX. She passed at the age of 61 on February 11, 2024. She was dearly beloved by all her family and friends. She was known for her love of life, children, grandchildren, and all her family. Never one to back down from any challenge. She retired from Texas A&M Extension Services after 23 years of dedicated service. She spent her final hours surrounded by her family until her last breath was taken. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruben & Aurelia Mancillas, sister Graciela Mancillas. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Petruska. Her siblings Guadalupe (Yolanda) Mancillas, Reyes (Martha) Mancillas, Virginia Mancillas. Her children Steven Avila Jr., Ruben Joshua Avila. Her Grandchildren Ruben Alfonso Avila, Heaven Amanda Martinez, and Grace Dixie Avila. Her beloved nieces and nephew. She will be missed by all that knew her.
