Carol Jean Wuis,76, died peacefully in her sleep on January 16, 2024 at their Texas residence. Carol was born in Ludington, Michigan , September 1947. In 1969, she married Joe Wuis and was happily married for 54 years. Joe and Carol were avid travelers and enjoyed trips to six continents . Snorkeling was a favorite of Carol's and she enjoyed seeing tropical fish. Carol was a loving wife and mother. A gentle and kind presence, she was a good friend to many. Carol enjoyed volunteering and during her life she was an active member of the Allegan Jaycees, she helped at her children's school events (room mother), she was a co-chair for high school reunions, and most recently, volunteered for Sea Turtle Inc on South Padre Island. Carol spent half the year in Michigan and wintered at Long Island Village in Texas, where she loved sitting on her deck and watching the dolphins swim and play. Carol will be missed by the Tasty Tuesday Friend group and her morning walking buddy, JoDee Nelson. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Jean Nelson and her brother, Fred (Fritz) Nelson. Carol is survived by her husband, Joe Wuis, her children, Renee (Jeff) Fonnet, Rinda (Ron) Wahmhoff, and John Wuis . Her grandchildren, Josh and Zoe Fonnet, Evan and Will Wahmhoff and Hunter Blake. Her sister-in-law, JoDee Nelson. A celebration of life will be held for immediate family members.
