Ronald John Sumega, 76, of San Benito, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. He will be greatly missed by his daughters; Samantha Sumega and Sydney Mills; his son in law, Richard Mills; grandsons, Noah and Ian Sumega; sisters, Doris Minas and Mia Gordon ; and brother David Sumega. He is preceded in death by his brother, Harry Sumega. Ron was born to John and Britta Sumega in Harvey, Illinois on July 2, 1934. He worked for many years as a pipe fitter for the local steel company until moving to Port Isabel in 1972 where he bought a local historical landmark, The Alta Vista Apartments. He was also an active Rotarian while working as the local building inspector. At home, he was an avid collector of all things antique with a special love and attention to cars. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, , 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Military honors to follow under the direction of the American Legion, Post 43 of Brownsville, Texas.
