Sofia R. Muñoz, 87 of Los Fresnos, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Valley Baptist Hospital. Sofia was surrounded by her loving family when God sent his angels to carry her soul back to Heaven. Sofia R. Muñoz was born in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi on September 30, 1936, to Paulo Rodriguez and Rosa Quintero. On February 9, 1950, she married Jose Muñoz. During their 68 years of marriage, they were blessed with 15 children: Eloisa (David) Cuate; Sofia (+Roberto) Esquivel; +Jose (Delia) Muñoz, Jr; Juan (Alicia) Muñoz; +Rosita Muñoz; Lupita (Joe) Arredondo; Felix (Rossy) Muñoz; Rufino (Rosa) Muñoz; Paul (Janie) Muñoz; Daniel (Nora) Muñoz; Victoria (Bill) Brisky; Virginio (Veronica) Muñoz: Francisco (Patricia) Muñoz; +Jesus Munoz; Guadalupe Muñoz. Sofia R. Muñoz was a loving wife and mother. She loved all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also loved gardening, enjoyed caring for her birds and her chickens. Sofia also enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations. Sofia was preceded in death by her father, Pablo Rodriguez, her mother Rosa Quintero; her husband Jose Muñoz, Sr.; daughter, Rosita Muñoz; sons, Jesus Muñoz, and Jose Munoz, Jr. She was also preceded by her brother Francisco Rodriguez and sister Amparo Quintero. Sofia R. Muñoz is survived by her children: Eloisa (David) Cuate; Sofia Esquivel; Juan (Alicia) Muñoz; Lupita (Joe) Arredondo; Felix (Rossy) Muñoz; Rufino (Rosa) Muñoz; Paul (Janie) Muñoz; Daniel (Nora) Muñoz; Victoria (Bill) Brisky; Virginio (Veronica) Muñoz: Francisco (Patricia) Muñoz; and Guadalupe Muñoz. brothers: Daniel Rodriguez, Ramiro Quintero, and Jesus Quintero. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. “A golden heart stopped beating; hardworking hands are at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the very best.” Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecila Catholic Church, 606 W Ocean Blvd, Los Fresnos, TX. with interment to follow Los Cuates Cemetery.
