Ana Maria Leos, 92 beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, and daughter of God, passed away on Sunday, December 31st, 2023, at her home in Port Isabel surrounded by family. Ana Maria was the Matriarch of her family and known to many as ‘Welita’ or ‘Tia Mere.’ She loved spending time with family and preparing delicious meals. Anyone who walked through her door was always welcomed, and often greeted, with a hot meal and freshly made tortillas. She was deeply admired during her 92 years of life and will be greatly missed by those who love her. She will be remembered for the love, commitment, and devotion that she had for her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio Leos, son, Andres Leos; mother, Concepcion Buendia Mota, and brothers Bernando Mota, Sr., and Candelario Mota. Ana Maria is survived by her children Maria Yolanda Castillo (Mitchell), Lydia Casanova (Nacho), Jose Manuel Leos (Alma), Irma Valdez (Oscar Jr.), Jesus Reynaldo Leos (Irma); grandchildren: Alma Montana, Maria Consuelo Castillo, Criselda Arenivar (Alex), Celina Aguirre (Adrean), Anna Casanova (William), Angie Balderas (Joe), Gregorio Leos (Ruth), Rosa Lopez (Gabriel), Belinda Leos, Oscar Valdez III (Maria), Omar Valdez Sr., Christopher Leos Sr., Jewel Fernandez-Leos; great-grandchildren: Marco, Antonio, Giovanni, Anthony (Jazmyne), Andres, Angelica, Marijah, Alyssa, AJ, Miranda (Rufino Jr.), Layla, Gabby, Sophia, Claudia, Casandra (Reece), Christian, Carisa, Marcus, Matthew, Miguel, Madelyn, Amery, Fabian, Kayla, Omar Jr., Elijiah Jace, Christopher Jr., Frank, Gary Jo; great-great grandchildren: Isaiah, Olivia, Elena, Jianna, Mia, Mason, Anson; and her siblings: Pete Mota, Elena Camacho, Guadalupe Mota, Margarita Salinas, and Paz Medina; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 04, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 East Jackson, Brownsville Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 05, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 705 South Longoria Street, in Port Isabel, Texas, interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gregorio Leos, Christian Leos, Oscar Valdez III, Omar Valdez, Sr., Andres Arenivar, Alex Arenivar, Nacho Casanova, and Joe Balderas. Honorary Pallbearer, Pete Mota.
