Mr. Mancillas (to my 8 siblings and I, but Nicho to my Dad) would stop by for a visit with my Dad while Daddy was enjoying working on his carpentry projects outdoors under the patio. The childhood friends who grew up together and also experienced World War II had a special bond that only war veterans can share whether in conversation with each other or just sitting in silence in each other’s presence having a cold drink. We were honored to have known him as a teacher professionally, my Dad’s friend and our family priest’s sacristan and father figure. Our condolences to Mr. Mancillas’ family and Father Pat. God grant him eternal rest and may Perpetual Light shine upon him. Sylvia Reza
