Eva-Jean Dalton, 66, of South Padre Island, TX passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at her residence. Eva-Jean Dalton was born to Harold D. Dalton and Joyce Elaine Dalton (Black) on December 23, 1956, at Smokey Hill Airforce Base in Salina, Kansas. After moving around in the military, the family returned to the Rio Grande Valley. Eva-Jean was a 4th generation valleyite who graduated from Mercedes High School. She raised her only son in the McAllen area where she served her community and spent her career helping families throughout the entire Rio Grande Valley find their homes. She was active in Real Estate and licensed since 1990. She was a top producer and leader in her real estate position holding numerous certifications such as Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), e-Pro, Texas Realtors Leadership Program (TRLP), and RSPS Resort and Secondary Home Specialist. Throughout her career, Eva-Jean sat on numerous boards and committees at the municipal, state, and federal levels in multiple capacities. She has also garnered countless professional awards. Eva-Jean was a current City Council member for The City of South Padre Island. Despite her numerous professional accolades, the pride in Eva-Jean’s life was her only son and her three grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother Joyce Elaine Black. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Ross Palacios; 3 grandchildren, Tristen Palacios, Ezra Palacios, and Eden Palacios. In addition, she is survived by her siblings, Harold Dalton, James A. Dalton, Linda Lee (Gary) Doubrava; Uncle Gerald (Nancy) Black; several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Visitation will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Chapel Service to follow therafter at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Hyde officiating. Cremation will follow in accordance with her wishes.
